The Newark Community Wealth Collaborative continues the process
of innovative assistance to entrepreneurial nonprofits. Over the
course of 10 months this project will advise and support six
Newark nonprofit organizations as they develop and implement
earned income ventures.
A consortium of funders, including the Wachovia Regional
Community Development Corporation, Prudential Foundation, MCJ
Foundation, Victoria Foundation, Bank of America Charitable
Foundation, IDT Corporation, PSE&G, JPMorgan Chase, Ohl
Foundation, Lucent Technologies Foundation, and an anonymous
foundation, are sponsoring the Community Wealth Collaborative.
Six leading nonprofit organizations were selected to participate
in the project. These organizations will benefit from:
-
Access to experts in the
fields of social enterprise and business development;
-
A proven methodology for
selecting, planning, and launching a social enterprise,
along with assessment tools and research support;
-
In-depth monthly interaction
and collaboration with peer nonprofit organizations; and
-
Customized assistance from
experienced consultants.
The
Collaborative was launched in October 2006 and concluded in
September 2007.
