CWV helps nonprofit organizations generate Community Wealth by getting them to think about their assets in a new way - as valuable commodities that can be leveraged to create wealth. Once these assets have been identified, we work with organizations to find where the best overlap exists between these assets and market opportunities. CWV is uniquely positioned to help organizations find this overlap and bring the best opportunities to market.

Once we have thoroughly investigated our client's assets, there are two pathways that lead to Community Wealth creation:

  • New business enterprises that provide products or services, and
  • Corporate/nonprofit partnerships, such as a sponsorship, licensing or cause- related marketing agreement.

There are many factors that lead to the recommendation of an appropriate venture, and CWV closely partners with our clients to assess and pursue the most effective route to success. Once the route has been established, we design a customized approach to implementation. The following graph illustrates the various community wealth opportunities:

A Community Wealth enterprise can arise from any defined market need, ranging from entry-level job training, to food service, to real estate development, to consulting. We help nonprofit organizations understand the marketplace and what potential customers need. Our clients are running Ben & Jerry's Partnershops, providing consulting services to corporations, running institutional catering businesses, and engaging in many light manufacturing and service offerings.

Alternatively, we help clients plan for corporate partnerships, which can include cause-related marketing, licensing, or other sponsorship or joint venture activities between corporations and nonprofit organizations. We help nonprofit organizations understand how they can help corporate partners achieve their strategic business objectives and manage the corporate relationship once the partnership is established, all while staying focused on achieving their mission.
