While not specifically implemented to generate
revenue, strategic alliances and mergers provide many strategic
benefits to nonprofits. By combining forces and eliminating
duplication of mission and services, nonprofit organizations
can often increase their social impact.
CWV works with nonprofit organizations to
help them increase their institutional strength and effectiveness
by strategically aligning themselves with other organizations.
We research and conduct due diligence on potential alliances
and develop affiliation strategies for leveraging the assets
of both organizations. In addition, CWV can facilitate a series
of working sessions with the organizations to create a memorandum
of understanding and an implementation plan to make the alliance
a reality.
CWV Approach to Strategic Alliances
- Phase 1 - Organizational Review
and Due Diligence
Deliverable: An assessment of the
strengths and weaknesses of each involved organization,
and an evaluation of the synergies and roadblocks involved
in a potential alliance.
- Phase 2 - Negotiation of Alliance
Structure and Agreement
Deliverable: Based on a series of
working sessions with involved organizations, a jointly
developed Memorandum of Understanding outlining the alliance.
- Phase 3 - Integration of the
Organizations
Deliverable: Strategic advice and
facilitation to realize the goals of the alliance.
